The meaning is very clear... someone knows two girls and likes both of them but is undecided on which one to hit in case the other one takes offence; he does not want to blow his chances by choosing the wrong target. Mark's and Paul's guitars "take turns" in the main role, just like the two girls in the song. Such a good match between music and lyrics.
