kotk05, you are right, this song is just disappointing. Running around saying, "I've been thinkin bout the doorbell ..." is so lame. The "love interest" would say it was a sincere yet majorly wussing thing to say. If it weren't for the video, this song would have sunk so fast, because people like seeing children or animals. It's a very clever method to get folks to ignore the shortcomings of the song. In conclusion, I would very much rather watch a chimpanze attempt to steal a lion's dinner.

--In short, the line you think is "retarded" matches the point of the song perfectly. Now, weather or not you like his vocals is up to you. Lots of people think Rihanna has a fantastic voice--I find it annoying. To each his own. I think Jack White's voice is original and pleasing to listen to.But about the kids... I give you no props for that one. That was just a stupid comment. But, whatever, we're not here to debate, right? I just figured I'd slip in a response.

Uh-huh. It's respectable that you don't like the song, but people see things different ways. The line about the doorbell? Lovely. It looks to convey the plight of a person waiting a long time for his "special person" to come and drop him a visit. It's a very relatable feeling, it's a very pathetic, yet wholesome feeling when I hold my phone in my hand waiting for my special person to give me a call. "You know you got me waiting in vain" supports the theory of what that line means. --

I can't think of anyone else in The White's Stripes contemporaries' genre who have a more commercial voice than his, but I get what ya mean :P |
